Choise of Race Wear
...So the rule should be always to dress as lightliy as can reasonably br thought possible. In most cases when the weather is fine, light cotton trousers and a light, short-sleeved shirt will be the most cofortable race waer. It is certanly a good safety measure to have these impregnated for fireproofing and some drivers even rule out short sleeves on the grounds that they give insufficient protection against fire. Nylon is particulary dangerous in case of fire and should never be used for any racing wear or underwear; even socks should be wool or cotton. On the same grounds, and also because of the increased danger of burns in case the pipe leading to the oil-pressure gauge should break, shorts cannot be recommended, tempting as they may be, except for saloon-car racing where this danger hadrly exists. Another safety measure agains fire is to rule out one-piece overalls because in case of emergency, these are much harder to remove than two-piece gear.

Tvådelad dräkt är bättre om den brinner för den ät lättare att ta av. Något att tänka på för de som inte har brandsäkra kläder.

Citat:
Tyre companies such as Dunlop, Avon and Pirelli produce perfectly waterproof two-piece rubber overalls. They should not be worn directly over the bare skin however, as water will always manage to seep in, if only around the neck, and will create a most unwelcome sensation of humidity and cold. Being more or less airtight as well as waterproof, these overalls are extremely hot when it is not raining and my personal opinion is that unless it is almost certain to be raining during the race, it is preferable not to wear them and take a chance on being drenched. Unless it rains very hard, the wrap-round windscreen of a modern single-seater racing car is so efficient that hte driver hardly gets wet at all, though it may be usefull to wear the rubber trousers, for protection against the water that splashes up through the joints of the body floor.

Gummi-overall låter ju skönt...
