Hej!
_________________ /Mathias Cardevik 3:a BMW Cup Modifierad 2013 & 2015 samt Standard 2011 & 2012 |

Men han skrev det här: Many here use a bullet cam from RF Concepts in the UK. The problem with these cameras, is that they don't work too well in bright sunlight, and the resolution could be better. A solution to this could be to use a slightly larger camera. Unless it is to be attached on the helmet, the size of this one shouldn't be a problem: Model 2146XAI Colour Hi Res Low Light Auto Iris http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/cctv-cam The Auto Iris makes it possible to use in strong sunlight, and resolution is on par with DV equipment. I will definitely try out this camera myself. If anyone else is interested, let me know and I'll try to get a good deal on a larger order.

My RF Concepts bulletcam arrived yesterday, and this evening was the first chance to test it. Connected everything up and demonstrated that I had the technology to film my living-room. Then hooked it up in the car and went for a short test-drive. I didn't attempt any fancy camera placement for the first test - just taped it onto the bonnet - but that was enough to show that it is fanbloodytastic. :-) My system is: - RF Concepts 21CW Colour Bullet Camera - Amplified microphone for above - DIY kit for above (power supply and looooooooong 3-in-1 cable) - LG 12v/240v Dual-Power VCR machine - Sony Mavicap Frame-grabber (used as a monitor, but will also be useful for actual frame-grabbing) Everything is powered in 240v mode from an inverter which itself is powered from the cigarette-lighter socket. The 3-in-1 cable (video, audio, power) means that there's only one cable to run to the front of the car. The VHS recorder itself goes behind the passenger seat (so the Record button is reachable from the driver's seat), the monitor goes on the dashboard (so it can be seen from the passenger seat) and the camera goes wherever you like (there's a 20m cable on it :-)). Drawbacks of my system: - It's relatively big, so obviously only suitable for a car - VHS quality is lower than Hi-8 or standard 8mm Advantages of my system: - 4-hour tapes mean very few tape changes - Just chuck the tape straight into your home video player to watch - It all works on 240v so can be used as a security system at home Total cost of the above system is £276 without the frame-grabber. If you use a pocket TV as a monitor, then you're looking at about £325 all-in. Top value in my book. There was a little bit of interference in the picture, but then I was running the camera cable across the bonnet of the car and had the camera directly above the engine. When I try it out properly, I'll route the cable down the side of the car and put the camera in the spoiler duct. There was also a bit of vibration, so I'll be trying the patented sponge vibration-damping system. Of course, I'm going to have to find a black sponge to match the car, camera and cable ... I also ended up with a real rat's nest of cables, so I'm going to have to spend an hour working out how best to position everything and how to organise the cable-runs. Once I get the new car, I'm going to look into the feasibility of a permanent installation with all the cables out of sight. Many thanks to Joerund for his pioneering and being able to tell the rest of us what we need to buy, and top marks to RF Concepts - a great product at a reasonable price which arrived the day after I ordered it.
one thing to consider with a video mount is where it will end up when you hit the crash barriers. After my little accident in Spain (where I was not filming) I wondered about this for a while. I concluded that suction mount to the windscreen of a car was OK, because you should not hit the screen, and if the mount released, the camera and mount would most likely just hit the screen (maybe go right through it). Mounting the camera anywhere behind the line of the front seats is less safe, IMHo, because should the mount release on impact (and it may well do so), you have a couple of kg's of metal flying forward at 70+mph - that's a hefty bullet. Using a short secondary strap to anchor the recorder somewhere else to catch it in the event of the mount coming loose must be a good idea. It goes without saying that you shouldn't have anything else loose in the car (mobile phone, wheel brace, ...); best to leave it at the car park or put it in the boot. So while video quality and cost are important, please consider safety too when concocting your personal in car video system. I haven't thought about the safety on a bike - any of the bikers out there got any advice. Cheers, Robin _________________ Magnus Thomé |

Robert,
I can go on at some length about this. Actually, as some ringers will tell you, I can go on at some length about lots of things However, to keep it short: I'm assuming you have a Sony TRV900. This is a fairly large digital camcorder which differs from most UK domestic ones in having the facility to record from another source. If I'm right you have 2 options. 1 is much better than the other. option a) is to a tripod head and screw it directly to the base of the camera. Then just bolt/clamp the head to the cage. The things you need to look for are the largest possible footprint baseplate to spread the cornering load over as much of the camera base as possible (Too small and there's a chance that it will just rip the mounting off the bottom of the camera when you corner or brake hard), and that the head has a good positive locking action. option b) is to go to www.rfconcepts.co.uk and buy a 21CWS-HR waterproof bullet camera for £125. Spend a few quid more on a connection kit, a cheap hi-fi stereo mic (with phono connectors not a jack plug) and a cheap and cheerful suction mount from someone like Jessup or City Cameras. Strap your TRV900 somewhere secure but easily accessible on the cage. Plug the special Sony lead (the one with yellow, red and white connectors on one end) into the side of the camera (behind the rubber cover on the right). Mount the minicam wherever the hell you want and connect it to the yellow connector attached to your camera. Mount the mic and connect it to the red and white connectors. Use the screen on the TRV900 to adjust the position and aim of the minicam. *Remember to turn the TRV900 onto VCR NOT camera* Then, when you're ready, hit "record" either on the top plate of the camera or on the remote (you'll need to press, I think, record AND play to make it work). option b is better for safety of camera mounting, camera longevity and it looks more professional. If you want a more comprehensive answer, (!) mail me offlist.

Man får då kameran monterad i huvudhöjd mitt i bilen....
