Det finns som bekant Mazda Mx5 serier både i UK och Holland. De kör enhetsklasser med lite annat reglemente än vad vi gör. Kringarrangemangen är mycket imponerande och det är mycket imponerande att följa. Nedan finns en liten teaser ifrån första tävlingen i Holland samt lite info som klubben skickat till oss.

As of tomorrow the MaX5 Racing season kicks of under a new name.
With the involvement of Mazda Holland we now also have Total onboard as our main sponsor.
As of now the series will be called the Total Mazda MaX5 Cup.

This year we have 16 confirmed entries and there are a few more teams interested in joining the fun.
We hope to progress to around 25 cars .

The involvement of Mazda is as follows:

They enter a car under the Mazda Holland flag.
This car runs each race with a guest driver. This varies from a well known driver to the media which in return will publish an article about the cup in their media.
Thus far we have been featured in several magazines (like Top Gear and Autoweek) and we have been featured on Dutch television.

Mazda supports us with a lot of logistics. They have bought a small truck in which we can carry our material to the track.
In this truck we have a hospitality tent, chairs for drivers and guests, flooring for in the tent, catering etcetera.
Also a lot of these items have been provided by Mazda.

Mazda has entered the cup this year in the Dutch Power Pack Festival.
We normally run in the B events of the DNRT but this specific weekend we will run in a high profile A event which will mean that the series can be seen on Dutch TV.
As the entry fees are much higher for such an event Mazda will back up the drivers and pay a part of this fee.

Further more we get some pics and small articles every now and than in the Mazda Zoom Zoom magazine.

These are a few things Mazda does for us to promote the Mazda Zoom Zoom Feeling to their customers and Dealers here in Holland.

Total on the other hand has provided us with a budget. From this budget we rent the pit boxes for the drivers, pay the catering and so on.

Concerning the car parts we don't use any Mazda Speed parts yet.
We still would like to be the cup to be as affordable as possible. Most of the cars components stay stock.

Il Motorsport offers a discount rate to all the involved teams in the cup on their parts. Also we help to develop their parts as the teams get some I.L. products to test.
Further more I.L. also gave us access to a camera crew to make a promo film and more activities will be planned for this season.
Besides this they are building the new MaX5 website.

We also switched to a new tire for this year. Toyo has come onboard and will provide us with their new R1R tires.
This makes a lot of difference because the grip level has improved drastically. This makes the faster guys a bit quicker but makes the slower teams step
up their lap times by a few seconds.

Concerning the grow of both the Swedish and Dutch cups it is certainly interesting to see what we can do in 2011.
Also the British have stepped it up and now also run a NC Cup. Lets keep in contact about any possibilities.

De engelska serien med Ma5da Racing (Max5 var ett annat reglemente som har gått i graven) hade förra året 106 registrerade ekipage och 96 som tog poäng i serien. Största uppslutningen var 73 ekipage under en tävlingshelg.

om vi bortser från att konkurrensen från andra serier är större i England så hade vi faktiskt fler MX5or tävlandes i Sverige förra året (per capita)

Men 2011 har de hela 125 Mk1 (NA) och 34st Mk3 (NC) anmälda (nä, det är inte den 270hk GT4modell som presenterades för några veckor sen men konceptet testades första gången förra året)

125 tävlande i samma klass är ju lite extremt
