A few more hours of work has gone in the Swedish 330 GT "hot Rod" build. I also spent some time investigating in the history and story to try and get to understand why this poor bodyshell ended up cut up and in very poor condition. So with a LOT of very interesting help from Kerry who runs https://www.330gt.com and a few other very kind enthusiast I have now learned as follows. Most of the information is to be found at the fantastic https://www.330gt.com . The Pinifarina body number from my bodyshell can be traced to a Blue Scuro 330 GT 1964 that was Maranello Concessionares UK demonstrationcar with licenseplate BYT5B. It had a few owners in the UK after being sold from MC. In 1979 the car already was in a pretty poor condition and was bought by a swedish guy called Sven. I found Svens adress and wrote him a letter with a picture of the car and a few days later he called me. A very nice man with a huge passion for Cars with several Ferrari ownerships. He confirmed that he imported the car in 1979 and then sold it on to a man called Björn. Again I managed to find Björn and also wrote him a letter, and again to my surprise I got a text back with pictures and a story of ownership. By this time in the early 1980s the car was quite rusty so Björn decided to do strip down the car to its chassi, removing the bodyshell and replaced it with a fibreglass "ocklebo" body that was lengthend to fit the original 330 wheelbase. Björn owned the car for many years and it was registerd and roadworthy in Sweden. After that (as I understand it) the car was sold to a man called Gunnar Elmgren. Gunnar was also a petrolhead and had a long career in the car buisiness in Sweden for brands as BMC, Mercedes Benz and also as a Ferrari importer. Gunnar let the car with the supertalented Motorima and Magnus Ahlqvist than fabricated a hole new aluminium body in the shape of a TR61. Incredible looking machine! The car was later exported to the UK and has had some quite famous ownerships since then. Left in Sweden was the poor remains of the 330s original bodyshell that I since a few years now own and giving some sort of a new life. Pictures with the different stages in history courtesy to 330gt.com , 250swb on Instagram and Björn.

Re:
_________________ Tony Jonsson Grace, Space and Pace. |
