om jag skulle bygga något i den här stillen så skulle jag titta på Ulf Bolumlids Acid. den är bra mycket mer avanserad med kolfiber monoco och med mycket mer avancerad hjulupphängning.

The driver closest to any track's lap record wins

Turner Automotive Design (TAD), designer and builder of the LMP-S track day car (right), is giving away one of its cars as a prize. The winner will have either beaten or come closest to the lap record on any track in a new competition, the Turner Challenge. Other prizes include Playstations, free track days and a trip to Le Mans.

TAD reckons the Turner Challenge allows lap times on any circuit in the world to be directly compared and contrasted. Whether it be Laguna Seca or Silverstone, Sebring or East Fortune - all circuits have official lap records recorded and in the books.

How it works

Any Turner LMP model with any driver can enter the 2005 Challenge and enter his/her best lap at any world circuit. The lap time achieved is expressed as a percentage of the particular circuit's outright lap record. In this way the skill of the driver in driving close to the record is calculated as a percentage.

For example, although an LMP lap of Silverstone at 124 mph is fast -- the lap record is 136 mph -- it is not as quick as an LMP that laps East Fortune at 98 mph where the lap record is 101 mph. In this example the Silverstone lap is 91.17647% and the East Fortune lap is 97.029702%.

Eligibility

Laps have to be officially timed by track officials to be accepted
Laps can be during a track private session run
Laps can be during a race or qualifying or testing
Run on any days between January 1st 2005 and December 31st
Can be on slicks or road tyres
Using any model LMP as offered by T.A.D. for sale or to track school (if someone wants to tune or fit a wing or use trick tires - well done for initiative)
Claim has to be verified by a track official
The winners are those drivers with the closest percentage time for a lap to the outright circuit record. Percentages are measured to three decimal points - or beyond in the unlikely event of a tie.
The Turner Challenge can be run anywhere there's a track and an LMP. Claims should be submitted by January 5th 2006 at the latest in order for there to be a public and media announcement at the Autosport Show. A driver can submit any number of lap times for a UK track or a North American track or both with no restriction on number of submissions.

The TAD web site will carry a Turner Challenge interactive data base for general interest but also to allow participants in the challenge to keep abreast of laps being achieved. A weekly update will be sent electronically to all participants in the Challenge.

Prizes

The fastest driver/LMP combinations in 2005 receive:

Turnkey LMP
Runner-up get free track-days for a year at location TBD
Third place gets Le Mans trip plus a day at a race school
In collaboration with a video game manufacturer and producer, TAD offers X-Box/Playstations as bonus prizes for the next 20 best laps.

The company says the Turner Challenge "is designed to raise media interest, develop sales in the medium to long term and increase the general public's awareness of the brand. It will be an annual event and something that can be developed worldwide because potentially it adds a new element to track-days."

The company plans to attend the Autosport Show in Birmingham next month.

Synd att man var tvungen att köra en TAD-LMP för att kunna vara med.. Men det är ju klart- vad skulle dom annars tjäna på att ge bort en komplett bil..

Bara vita fälgar som fattas...
