| F3000 champion Bjorn Wirdheim will stake his claim to become Jaguar test driver next week.
The Swede will test for Jaguar in Barcelona on Wednesday with a view to becoming the team's reserve driver in 2003. A Jaguar spokesman said: "We're going to test him next week, obviously with the third car for Fridays at Grands Prix in mind." Wirdheim visited the Jaguar factory on Friday where he was put through his paces on a simulator. Jaguar will be the third team the 24-year-old has tested for, following on from Jordan and BAR. Jaguar had hoped to give Justin Wilson the test job but he is disqualified because he has driven in more than six races in the past two years. Wirdheim qualifies because he has not. |
