Det er korrekt :-)
SVJ 1000 GT The name SVJ is short for Steen Volmer Jensen, a Danish engineer whose main claim to fame is the infamous City-El, a phenomena which plagued Danish roads during the late eighties and early nineties, until most of them had eventually been run over by large trucks. While Steen V. Jensen was studying to become an engineer, he decided to build his own car. This was to be made out of glass fiber, a project which ended up lasting 5 years (from 1962 to 1967) with him spending some 5000 hours. The car was built on the chassis of the Auto Union 1000S. During the construction the original two-stroke was replaced by the Wankel Rotary engine from the then all new NSU Ro80. The body was first drawn from all angles, then a wooden 1:10 scale model was made and measured in 23 profiles. These measurements were used for creating 23 1:1 profiles in plywood between which chicken wire and subsequently plaster was used to form a full size model. This model formed the basis of the mould from which the body was then cast. This process had taken 8 months, but the challenge of making the doors, interior and engine compartment would take up the following 4 years. The drawings for the doors alone took 200 hours of work. The car was finished in 1967 and has since then driven over 300.000 km. First by Steen V. Jensen himself, later by a friend of his, to whom he sold it. The past >25 years it has been a part of the permanent collection at Sommer's Automobile Museum in Nærum, north of Copenhagen. And there's the Volvo connection: ole Sommer, though originally building the business on the Danish Jaguar import, was also a very successful Volvo dealer from the mid fifties until he retired a few years back.
